Tutorials: Blogs
Before you start reading away and getting confused, this is NOT a tutorial
on how to make a blog, which is so simple even Kim can do it! I'm just
going to explain a simple thing that confuses people. In this tutorial
I'm referring to the Blogger Blogs (which can be found at
Blogger.com).
Customizing your Sidebar
If you don't know what your sidebar is, check out this
screenshot
from Kim's blog. Where the arrow is pointing is your sidebar.
If you are not familiar with HTML, this may see very confusing, when
in fact, it isn't. As long as you don't start blindly deleting code
from your template, you won't screw anything up.
First of all, log into your blog account, and you'll get to
this
screen. See where the red arrow is pointing? Just click on the Template
tab, and you'll be taken to your template code.
It may look very complicated, but you only need to change one part to
customize your sidebar. Scroll down until you get to an area that looks like this:

This is where you can add links to your blog. There are two parts you need to change.
See where it says EDITME! in capital letters? (Right after the http://). That's where
you put the URL to the website you want to link to. So for example, if you wanted
to link to Lucky-Eleven, you would simply type http://www.lucky-eleven.com in that space.
Then, you edit what the link actually says, because obviously you don't want it to say
the URL. The next part is where it says Edit-Me. That's the type that you actually
see on the blog's sidebar. So if you were linking to Lucky-Eleven, you might just
type in Lucky-Eleven.com, or Andrea's Blog, etc.
It's as simple as that!
That's it! You can add as many links as you want by copying and pasting the code
just underneath your other links. Fun stuff!
