There's beauty in the breakdown

So I've been kind of down for the past week or so, but at the same time I've realized how amazing my friends and family are. And you can't even imagine how many people come out of the woodwork to tell you how much you are cared for... someone at work told me that I was beautiful last weekend. Yesterday I recieved one of the thoughtful things anyone has ever done for me in the mail, and I cried for a totally different reason. I think that I had completely lost track of what some of the most important things were, and one of them was how much my friends mean to me. Although things are still kind of shitty at times, everyone has been so wonderful that I can't even describe it. I don't think I could ever say thanks enough... I love you all so much!

Bonspiels, etc.

I'm back, in a slightly better mood than before, and with a bit more to say. (Thank you to my lovely friends, by the way!) This past weekend was the Midwest College Regional Bonspiel, so the vast majority of the weekend was spent at the curling club. My team of Matt, Alex and JT was very good fun, and as usual hilarity ensued throughout the weekend. Saturday night was especially nice, as a group of us wandered over the hotel and met up with the Northwestern teams, who turned out to be pretty fun people who had amusing stories of drunken college kids in downtown Chicago. I guess that's one of the things that makes curling such a fun sport, competitiveness can be minor when you make it about meeting the people involved. So that was a good time, and after the finals which were ridiculously early on Sunday morning, Alex, Matt and I went over to see Nick for the baptism of his beautiful daughter Isabelle. Overall it was a really good weekend of seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
Today I was amazingly productive, which is always a good thing. But you definitely won't hear me complaining when the semester is over. It'll be nice to see a few interesting relatives and just work for a couple of weeks, although a few of my work buddies have finished with the front end and are moving to the bakery... but one promised to decorate me a cake, and I think I'll hold her to her promise.
And as usual I always have more things to say in my head, but they leave me as I finally take the time to post. I suppose I'll be back sometime soon, but I think now I will go take the time to read. Enjoy the lovely snow!

(And Happy Birthday wishes to Amber, Julie and Renee!)
