Happiness is being surrounded by good friends
Hello all... I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day Weekend, as for once the weather was really nice in Wisconsin, although it did storm a bit on Saturday. Since my last post I've been wandering around doing lots of stuff... Friday night most of the group gathered at Perkins and then played some Bocce Ball on the 400 Block, which was good fun. Saturday I went to a rainy wedding near the Eau Claire Dells, which was a testament to the tastiness of home-cooked food. Sunday I hung out with the Wierzbas and went boating on Lake DuBay. It was so hot it was nice to go swimming, and it turns out there is a really nice sand bar in the middle of the lake that was perfect for playing volleyball with a kickball and attacking one another with Fun Noodles. Later that night there was a tasty barbecue and Lawn Golf and Bocce Ball... and Julie and I thoroughly own at Lawn Golf. On Monday I sat in the sun reading with Matt for awhile, and then Kim, Becky, Matt and I went to the Council Grounds State Park in Merrill. The weather was really warm, so swimming, sitting in the sun and playing in the sand was wonderful. After leaving the park we met up with Chris at the very classic Merrill restaurant Chip's and had dinner. So far it's been a lovely summer, although tomorrow I have orientation at work, so sadly the lazy days are ending. But I suppose I can't complain, earning money will also be very nice. Website-wise I added a ton of new summer pictures, mostly from Friday night and Merrill. In addition, there are videos of Matt and Kim escaping from the sand. These will be available for download for a short time: Matt - Video 1Kim - Video 2I think that's about it for now, but again if anyone else has any summer pictures they would like to post, if you have an account for the forum you can create your own albums in the gallery. And if you don't have an account, make one! Otherwise I will probably be busier in the days to come.... but right now there is a lovely storm outside, and I must go sit upstairs and enjoy it.

First week of summer
Hello all, it’s been an eventful week or so… Since last Tuesday I’ve moved out from Eau Claire and back to Wausau for the next 9 months or so. I will miss Eau Claire a bit (especially some of the people there). On the last night I went dumpster diving with Kim, Julie and Santiago… pretty much in general causing trouble. Moving out was easier than expected, just up and down lots of stairs. Since returning to Wausau I’ve been bowling twice and to Perkins three times, causing more trouble. I finally found 6 AA batteries for the bubble machine Kim and Julie gave me for my birthday, and as it turns out it is amazing at producing bubbles. The other Julie’s dance recital was on Saturday, which was exciting as usual. I’ve also done a fair bit of hanging out at Natalie’s new apartment on 3rd. It makes me want to live out of my home very much, but right now it’s much cheaper living in my mom’s basement. I think that this is going to be a lovely summer, as I’ve already seen all of my friends lots, and I think we’re going to be able to hang out a lot more often this summer. Hopefully there will be lots of interesting things to do, but right now it looks like Woodchucks, cheap bowling and a cookout or two. I’ve also decided that one of the best things about being home is the man with the Topaz. There is a man who apparently lives farther down NN than I do, so I often see him going West while I’m heading to town. Without fail as I drive past him he sticks his hand out the window with a thumbs up, signifying that I too know the glory of driving a Ford Topaz from the early ‘90’s. It’s nice seeing other people who appreciate how sexy my car really is, and it makes me giggle every time I see him. Hopefully my car won’t pack up too soon, but so far it’s been more reliable than ever. Speaking of cars, I also went car shopping with my mom as she is finally looking for something besides her unbelievably large Suburban. I got to ride in two brand-new Jettas… which is always fun. I would have liked to drive the manual one, but I’m pretty sure I would have broken it immediately. This is becoming quite the journal of a post. I think I’ll conclude with some randomness about Wausau. First of all, I have my rebuttal to Matt’s last blog post, because apparently Dwellers is for sale, which Matt thinks is hilarious because he predicted it to me months ago. But… my guess is that they are relocating. I think that the snowboarding/skateboarding scene is large enough in the Wausau area that, although they aren’t big enough to handle the value of the land they have downtown, they are simply going to relocate to a different storefront close to where they are now, or near Granite Peak. But I would guess that they would stay in the downtown area, as I would imagine that it is a place where kids wander to while downtown. Otherwise we’ve also been to Marathon Park… where they are fixing that large white building (which I know has a proper name, but for the life of me I can’t remember it…) Anyway, it’s all very interesting to see, because they are removing blocks from the structure and leaving large holes in the walls, which is always fun. Matt should have some pictures up of that in his blog fairly soon. Finally… I’m going to complain about the additional office/storefront space that’s being built along Rib Mountain Drive, which I think is unnecessary right now, simply because it seems like there is empty office space all over town, and all anyone seems to want to do is build more empty space! Gah! Well that is my life story for the past week or so. Website-wise I’ve posted the last few pictures of the spring semester, plus the first few from summer. Hopefully I’ll start work soon as I’m getting bored out of my mind after three weekdays of not working. But perhaps I should enjoy my lazy days of summer while they last. But in the meantime adios my friends, I’ll probably be back soon.

Randomness
Hello there. It's been an interesting week. Thursday night Matt came to see me for my birthday, and took me to the Thorpedo in Thorp, which is tasty. Friday night I chilled with Natalie and Becky at the Brew, where we watched large ugly fish chase after small goldfish, as well as listen to lots of drunkenness. Saturday I went back to Eau Claire with Jessica, and we had some partyage with Renee. Thanks Kim and Juli lots by the way, they came and gave me a ridiculously gaudy card in a heart shaped box, as well as a Bubble Machine. I only need to find 6 double A batteries... Anyway, Sunday we decided to have a cookout in the Murray backyard, hence the picture. Since then I've been trying to study for finals, but I think my hardest one went really well, so hopefully the rest will go smoothly. Then only 3 more days until summertime, which sounds nice... All I've done is update the gallery with some pictures. I was also very surprised to see that the WausauBlog linked Lucky-Eleven... it's shocking that a serious website linked me, I feel like I need to be more sensical in my writing and actually post things of importance. It's a lot of pressure... We'll have to see how that goes. But anyway, good for them, as more and more people are giving them notice. That's about it for now, I'm not sure if I'll be back before the weekend, as we'll be moving out Friday. Have a good one anyway.

Random things
I don't really have a good post to post, just two random links for the day. A very long time ago I posted a link about Steve Vaught, who wanted to walk across the United States to try to lose some weight and kind of re-think his life. He finally made it to New York City yesterday, after walking a little under 3000 miles. I think he ended up losing like 100 pounds, and he's gained publicity and is planning on doing some shorter walks around the country. I kind of on and off followed his walk, and it was all very interesting. Way to go Steve. Also, there is the new WausauBlog. There was an article about it in the City Pages last week, and it's pretty much a random blog about random things in Wausau, with a few different contributors. It's just getting off it's feet now, but if it really takes off I think it'll become a pretty good source for stuff that's going on around Wausau, and I'd recommend to anyone from Wausau to check it out. That's it for now, perhaps I'll post later. But tomorrow is my birthday. So woot.

Videos
For a limited time (because these are huge files) I've uploaded two videos that can be downloaded. They feature, not surprisingly, Jessica. Just right-click on the link, and choose "Save Target As..." "I'm not getting you ice!!" - Movie 1 "The Admiral is in charge" - Movie 2 UPDATE: (10 May, 4:15pm) I've taken the videos off my server, so if you didn't have a chance to get them, just drop me a line and I can send them to you.

Friday Night, etc.
Hello there chaps! It's been an interesting weekend so far. Spent the night in silliness, did some dancing and other randomness. Pictures have been uploaded to the gallery and on Facebook. Nights like last night make me love college... it's so much fun spending time with friends that you knew before and people that you've only met over the last couple months. I love my friends from high school, and I love meeting lots of random people around here. I don't think I'll ever forget all the crap that went on in high school, and I definitely think they were some of the best years that I'll ever have, but I also think college is going to be a blast as well... it's almost sad that summer is coming up, but I'll enjoy the being in Wausau too, because so much randomness happens there as well. Anyway, tonight I'm heading home to celebrate my birthday with Matt and my mom and dad. Then it's probably time to come back and start preparing for finals... I think that's all I have for now... COLLYWOBBLES!!

Finally Fixed
Alright, so I finally fixed the bloody gaps in the IE version of the site, so everything should look lovely now. I think that a good lesson can be learned from this though... IE should be shot... repeatedly. Honestly, this is what I recommend to everyone. Ditch IE and use Firefox, which is a better browser with more capabilities and is fully customizable. If you do download Firefox, I recommend downloading the IE view add-on as well, so that if you do encounter a website that doesn't work well in Firefox, you can simply right-click and view it in IE. This also includes an "Always view in IE" option, so with things like Outlook Web Access (which probably hosts your college's email), you can choose to always view it IE, because it's more compatible. Speaking of things that are simply better, I also highly recommend using iTunes for your music library, just because it's a hell of a lot easier than most other programs. Um, in other news, not much is going on... but I did find an interesting article about Bush speaking Spanish. It was actually more entertaining than interesting, really. Anyway, that's about it for now... perhaps some photos later this weekend.

Spring on campus
Oi! Nothing too exciting has happened, except that for some reason I have been incredibly motivated and have accomplished quite a bit since Sunday... which includes lots of paper writing. But I took some random pictures of some of the beautiful trees around campus that are blossoming right now, it's actually really pretty. Spring is definitely a fun time around here, for some reason there are bands playing all the time on the campus mall in the middle of the day. I was pretty excited to hear the one that was there today sing "Float On" and "I think we're alone now", which I thought was a pretty impressive range of musical tastes... Anyway, that's my story for the day. Otherwise I've posted more pretty pictures in the gallery, as well as the rest of the croquet ones if you haven't seen those... and just in case you haven't noticed, I've been placing pretty much all of the pictures in the Spring Semester gallery, so that's where to look. The rest of the week is looking pretty interesting... so perhaps I'll post more soon or over the weekend. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed, And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed: But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st, Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st, So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. ~ Shakespeare's 18th Sonnet

Late-night croquet and other news
Hello all. Lots of randomness since my last post. The weekend was pretty interesting.... Friday night I had din din with Julie and Casey, and then later that night we decided to whip out the croquet set on the 400 Block. The two games we played ended up as an alliance of girls against Matt, and if I remember correctly we absolutely kicked his ass twice. Afterward we went to Perkins again, but it was flooded with East kids after their play... still in full make-up. Gah. Anyway, Saturday it rained, so any picnic activities planned were canceled, so instead Matt and I watched Silence of the Lambs and Pride and Prejudice. Sunday was very lazy. I do have more to say though... Watching Pride and Prejudice gets me in that mood to read lots of books, as movies of that type usually do. I don't think I'll ever get to them all, because there's so much randomness to read. I'm really interested in some of the classics... such as the rest of Jane Austen, notably Sense and Sensibility and Emma, some Charles Dickens, Joseph Conrad's Lord Jim (and hopefully understand it), the Sound and the Fury by Faulkner, Great Expectations, To Kill a Mockingbird, perhaps Le Mis, some more Mark Twain and Jack London, Crime and Punishment, perhaps finish my book of Poe's works, more Shakespeare... gah. It's hard when school demands so much reading... and I'm also in the middle of the 2nd book of an extensive series recommended by Matt. Perhaps over the summer... I think that's all I have to say for now, even though that wasn't much to say. However, perhaps there will be more later. Heh, but I do love my friends. This summer should be fun.
