More randomness

Here are a few random links for the day:
If you want something that is addictive and that will help you waste time, you can make a snowflake.
Or you can look at stuff on cats.
And that's my randomness for now.

Woot for Thanksgiving, blah for school.

Hello all... I meant to post at some point over the weekend, but I was too busy accomplishing nothing. Twas a fun weekend though, did the usual travels around on Thanksgiving to 3 different stops, and as usual Thanksgiving was uneventful. Although the bread rolls are always good... Friday I refused to get up early and shop, because it was early. But Matt and I still got the deal we wanted anyway at OfficeMax... yay for watching my mom buy my Christmas present. Later Friday night Matt and I wandered around Wausau looking for good tea and ended up going to Annie's. I'm very disappointed with Mike's 3rd St. Bar and Grill.... it's all very confusing when all you want is tea. Satuday a huge group of us (me, Matt, Casey, Mel, Justin, Julie, Kelly, Maxi, Tony, Renee, Barn and Maria... whew) wandered over to Mickey's to play pool and eat pizza, and that was very fun. Today I wandered around town with Matt looking at suburbias, and then we ran into a flock of geese and chased them onto the ice at Memorial Park. Overall it was a lovely weekend, and I'm sad that I have to go back to school and think. Ah well, only a few more weeks and it's Christmas already. I think that's all I have, perhaps I'll update with some randomness later this week...

Only in the Netherlands...

Apparently the Dutch are completely outraged that someone shot a sparrow. Check out the Sparrow's website here. ("A special website received thousands of messages of condolence, but some say the bird did not do itself any favours by knocking over 23,000 dominoes.") And that's all I have for now, eh.

Curling is good fun...

Hello all, it was an exciting weekend. Saw lots of Casey and Julie and Mel and Barn and Justin, and Cal (and a little bit of Matt... yay!). We played in the "Northern Exposure" bonspiel, and made it all the way to the 2nd event finals on Sunday, but we lost to Cal and Marcia's team. But it was good fun, the team went out for breakfast on Saturday morning, and then Casey and I spent a solid fourteen hours without sunlight in the club. After our two games we played about 4 and half hours of cards (Texas Hold 'Em, Extreme Solitaire, King's Corner and Skip-Bo), with a varying group of people. Towards the end of the night right before Julie showed up Howie got on the Karaoke machine and sang 4 or 5 Elvis and Frank Sinatra songs in a row. Later when Julie was there the ladies decided to drag us all up there to "sing" Girls Just Wanna Have Fun... and that's when the dancing on the counters started... "We're the only ones who are going to remember this tomorrow..." Heh, I think at some point they called it orgasmic karaoke. So anyway, it was a party. And next weekend should be fun too... 'arry Pottah!
Anyway.... here's the random link of the day, concerning coffins after Katrina.

It's a pirate's life for me!

Again, why you should change your major to Piracy.

Fun with Jessica...

"Yeah, I'm on a first name basis with Santa.... I mean, Chris."
"I come from Freedom, we eat the [corndog] sticks."

This title reflects the content of my post.

Renee posted this on my Facebook account awhile ago... it amused me, even though it insults my school. But I guess it insults everyones...
How many UW students does it take to change a light bulb?
At Madison it takes two. One to change the bulb and one more to brag about how they did it every bit as well as any Ivy League school.

At Oshkosh to takes two thousand. One to change the bulb, and the other one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine to riot and set it on fire.

At Stout it takes ten. One to change the bulb, and the other nine to sit around and watch because it is the big entertainment of the evening.

At Whitewater it take six, because that is how may people actually stay in the dorms on the weekend instead of going home.

At Stevens Point it takes zero. They are all too drunk from the night before to care whether or not the lights are on.

At Milwaukee it takes four. One to change the bulb, one to steal the new bulb from the store, one to act as a lookout, and one to drive the getaway car.

At Eau Claire it does not have to be changed because all the parties are over before the lights need to go on so no one ever sees light from them anyway.

At Green Bay it takes twelve. Two to figure out how to screw it in and ten to find an ugly enough lamp shade to match their school colors.

At River Falls it takes zero. There is no electricity in River Falls, only cows and corn (or Lakeland for that matter).

At Superior it takes five. Four to strap on snow shoes and hike ten miles to the nearest store to get the new bulb and one to screw it in.

At Platteville it takes twenty. One to change the bulb and the other nineteen to find a new way to engineer it so it never has to be changed again.

At LaCrosse it takes three. One to screw it in and the other two to giggle because he said the word "Screw."

Ben Folds is neat.

Hmm... I've been around for quite awhile. Over the weekend I hung out with Jessica and Stephen, I kicked Jessica's ass at pool (which effectively means that I didn't get a single shot and she won after about 5 minutes...), but then I did do really well at bowling... scored 109, after 4 spares in a row. But then Stephen decided to get a bunch of strikes or something, and he almost beat me with 107... dammit, I still won. Saturday we took a 4 mile round-trip walk to the Old Country Buffet (which has wonderful mashed potatoes and orange chicken by the way). Then we stopped by the pet store and looked at puppies and fish, walked home, and made Stephen watch Erin Brockovich. Sunday, Kim and I and this random man who speaks fluent French wandered down to the Folk Fair. I got my name written in Cyrillic when I went to Serbia, and Santiago tricked us into drinking this white drink that wasn't milk... I think it was water and cinnamon. It was a lazy weekend.
I'm lazy, I've got tests in about a week... and I can't care. Blah... Sometime Jessica, Renee and I need to hitch a ride to the pet store so we can buy a new fish for Mel, since Jessica and Renee suffocated Freddie by putting him in the microwave last night. And that's college.
(Yay for curling this weekend!)

Only in Arkansas....

...do white-tailed deer jump through windows (apparently regularly). And only in Arkansas do the people who kill them in bedrooms by breaking their necks drag them out into the front yard and intend to process them for meat. (Yeah... I'm really bored.)

More Narnia...

Here's Newsweek's feature on The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe... in case you haven't heard enough from me already. Almost less than a month...
