First week of summer

Hello all, it’s been an eventful week or so… Since last Tuesday I’ve moved out from Eau Claire and back to Wausau for the next 9 months or so. I will miss Eau Claire a bit (especially some of the people there). On the last night I went dumpster diving with Kim, Julie and Santiago… pretty much in general causing trouble. Moving out was easier than expected, just up and down lots of stairs.

Since returning to Wausau I’ve been bowling twice and to Perkins three times, causing more trouble. I finally found 6 AA batteries for the bubble machine Kim and Julie gave me for my birthday, and as it turns out it is amazing at producing bubbles. The other Julie’s dance recital was on Saturday, which was exciting as usual. I’ve also done a fair bit of hanging out at Natalie’s new apartment on 3rd. It makes me want to live out of my home very much, but right now it’s much cheaper living in my mom’s basement.

I think that this is going to be a lovely summer, as I’ve already seen all of my friends lots, and I think we’re going to be able to hang out a lot more often this summer. Hopefully there will be lots of interesting things to do, but right now it looks like Woodchucks, cheap bowling and a cookout or two.

I’ve also decided that one of the best things about being home is the man with the Topaz. There is a man who apparently lives farther down NN than I do, so I often see him going West while I’m heading to town. Without fail as I drive past him he sticks his hand out the window with a thumbs up, signifying that I too know the glory of driving a Ford Topaz from the early ‘90’s. It’s nice seeing other people who appreciate how sexy my car really is, and it makes me giggle every time I see him. Hopefully my car won’t pack up too soon, but so far it’s been more reliable than ever.

Speaking of cars, I also went car shopping with my mom as she is finally looking for something besides her unbelievably large Suburban. I got to ride in two brand-new Jettas… which is always fun. I would have liked to drive the manual one, but I’m pretty sure I would have broken it immediately.

This is becoming quite the journal of a post. I think I’ll conclude with some randomness about Wausau. First of all, I have my rebuttal to Matt’s last blog post, because apparently Dwellers is for sale, which Matt thinks is hilarious because he predicted it to me months ago. But… my guess is that they are relocating. I think that the snowboarding/skateboarding scene is large enough in the Wausau area that, although they aren’t big enough to handle the value of the land they have downtown, they are simply going to relocate to a different storefront close to where they are now, or near Granite Peak. But I would guess that they would stay in the downtown area, as I would imagine that it is a place where kids wander to while downtown. Otherwise we’ve also been to Marathon Park… where they are fixing that large white building (which I know has a proper name, but for the life of me I can’t remember it…) Anyway, it’s all very interesting to see, because they are removing blocks from the structure and leaving large holes in the walls, which is always fun. Matt should have some pictures up of that in his blog fairly soon. Finally… I’m going to complain about the additional office/storefront space that’s being built along Rib Mountain Drive, which I think is unnecessary right now, simply because it seems like there is empty office space all over town, and all anyone seems to want to do is build more empty space! Gah!

Well that is my life story for the past week or so. Website-wise I’ve posted the last few pictures of the spring semester, plus the first few from summer. Hopefully I’ll start work soon as I’m getting bored out of my mind after three weekdays of not working. But perhaps I should enjoy my lazy days of summer while they last. But in the meantime adios my friends, I’ll probably be back soon.
