Hello again, I've been meaning to post for ages, so perhaps I should finally do it. Lots has happened... This semester so far has been going well, lots of classes and work, but it's not too bad. I'm working 4 hours a week in the Economics department helping a professor, which is interesting. The first weekend of February was spent in Wausau, and the old West varsity got silver in the Women's division, so woot for us! That Saturday night I hung out at the MC with Matt and Natalie for a bit, we watched some pretty awesome reggae/indie/randomness, first off a band named
Hooch from La Crosse, they were pretty exciting. The second band was
Unity, which was also amazing. One of guys in the band honestly just jumped around randomly, sometimes holding (but not really shaking) a tambourine. Natalie and I decided he played sex appeal in the band. Anyway, that was pretty exciting.
This past weekend Matt came to visit Eau Claire, so we hung out watching some Pirates on Friday, then wandered around the city (which isn't that impressive) on Saturday. Saturday night was SkaFest on campus, so we wandered down there with Kim. The first band was decent, can't remember the band's name. The second band was pretty ridiculous, they seemed to think ska and metal rock made a good combination, but I think everyone at the concert was not impressed... but we did wait until the third band,
Something to Do, which actually turned out to be a great ska band in general, and it was by far the best skanking I've done in awhile, so yay for Something to Do! After the concert, Kim, Matt and I decided to wander over to Perkins, which turned out to be the most eventful place of the night. At one point this black waiter came and harassed Kim, as he tried to get her to dance, or drop it like it's hot... and he eventually wrote "Hot I" on her napkin... these shenanigans attracted this guy and his sister from a few booths away, which turned out to be more hilarious.... This guy, Dieter, was great; long hair, trenchcoat and knives at his waist, came and sat next to Kim, and for the next twenty minutes we discussed Kim's future and Japanese culture. Twas good fun, but I don't think Kim will ever go back to the Eau Claire Perkins again... Anyway, it turned out to be an eventful weekend of good fun.
Well, I guess that's the basic highlights of the semester so far. I don't have anything website-wise to say, but perhaps some day the tag board will be up and working.... someday. Anyway, as you all probably know, I'm literally obsessed with the Olympics, so I'll be watching coverage (all 400-something hours) pretty religiously for the next couple weeks... Woot! Have a good one.
